White onions are a milder variety of onion characterized by their sweet, delicate flavor and crisp texture. Here's a short description and a step-by-step guide on how to grow white onions from seeds:

Short Description:
White onions, with their mild taste and crisp texture, are versatile ingredients used in various culinary dishes worldwide. They add a subtle onion flavor without overpowering other ingredients. Whether sliced raw for salads, pickled for sandwiches, or cooked in soups and stir-fries, white onions offer a refreshing twist to your recipes.

How to Grow White Onion from Seeds:

1. Selecting Seeds:  Choose high-quality white onion seeds from THE AGRO MILL.

2. Timing:  White onions are typically grown as a cool-season crop. Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area. Alternatively, you can sow seeds directly into the garden when the soil can be worked in early spring.

3. Preparing Seed Trays:  Fill seed trays or small pots with a well-draining seed-starting mix. Moisten the mix before sowing seeds.

4. Sowing Seeds:  Plant onion seeds ¼ inch deep in the prepared trays or pots. Space seeds about ½ inch apart. Cover lightly with soil and water gently.

5. Providing Optimal Conditions:  Place the seed trays in a warm, sunny location with temperatures around 70-75°F (21-24°C). Ensure the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged.

6. Transplanting Seedlings:  Once seedlings have grown to about 4-6 inches tall and have developed several leaves, they are ready for transplanting outdoors. Harden off the seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions over a week before transplanting.

7. Choosing a Growing Site:  Select a sunny location with well-drained, fertile soil for planting white onions. Ensure the soil pH is around 6.0-7.0.

8. Planting Outdoors:  Plant seedlings in rows with spacing of 4-6 inches apart and rows spaced 12-18 inches apart. Set seedlings in the ground at the same depth they were growing in the seed trays.

9. Watering and Maintenance:  Keep the soil consistently moist throughout the growing season, especially during dry periods. Mulch around the plants to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize lightly with a balanced fertilizer according to package instructions.

10. Harvesting:  White onions are ready for harvest when the bulbs have reached a desirable size and the tops start to yellow and fall over. Pull up the onions from the soil, and let them cure in a warm, dry place with good air circulation for a few weeks before storing.

With proper care and attention, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest of sweet, crisp white onions grown from seeds in your garden.
